I am riding for my dad, Mark, who was taken by ALS in august 2023. My dad was an avid cyclist, and cycling fan. As the disease progressed, he would vocalize that he was "energized through cycling" as noted on his Twitter handle. Throughout his life, he would wake up at 5am and go to his daily spin classes, and journey up to Northern Ontario with groups of like-minded friends. Cycling gave him his happy place:

My team and I will honour his legacy by participating in this ride, with his memory forever by our side.
Nearly 4,000 Canadians live with ALS. This fall, "Gear up for change!” and join or donate to the ALS Canada Revolution Ride to inspire and spark action. Help increase awareness of ALS, expand our community, and raise funds to ensure sustainable investment in community-based support services for people and families living with ALS in Ontario, provincial and federal advocacy efforts, and the most promising ALS research in Canada.
I am participating in Revolution Ride because I want to
support the world’s leading researchers discover the cause, treatments and cure
for ALS. Leading-edge research and support programs have improved the quality
of life for people affected by ALS.
When you make a donation to my fundraising, you are helping
continue this incredible work.
Thank you for supporting our ALS community. We wouldn’t be
where we are today without your support.
